Mooney Mooney Creek – Monday, 18th February 2013.
Everyone slept in as a result of their late night last night. It had been a very relaxing day so far. It was hot but we had just had lunch. So, we waited for that to settle before we could go for a swim. After waiting and applying sunscreen we decided that we would all go down to Mooney Mooney Creek, or as we call it, ‘The Lagoon.’
Mooney Mooney Creek is located between Vincentia and Huskisson and is a very popular spot for families especially those with younger children. It is a safe and protected area for kids to swim and snorkel. This is good in our case given that we have many young children in my family. Walking down there we weren’t quite sure of what the tide would be like. We got there and the tide was on its way out. There was still a fair amount water in it though. The water almost completely clears out when the tide is low and reaches shoulder height when the tide is high.
The Lagoon is a cool place to hang out and relax, with astonishing views of the ocean all around you. The kids built sandcastles and the adults lay down in the refreshing water without a care in the world. In the shallows you could see schools of fish swimming past you. My cousins and I were trying to catch them but they were just too fast for us.
Nobody knew what the time was when we were down there but given that it was starting to get dark we figured we should return to where we were staying.
